The CSPN Clinical Spotlight Cancer Rehab Series is cohosted by APTA-Oncology and presents an overview on fundamental knowledge that all cancer providers and staff need to assess and appropriately refer patients for therapy services. This session will focus on considerations for head & neck cancer patients. This series is being hosted by Morgan Zaranec, PT, DPT, CLT.
Session Details
This session will focus on the role of the Oncology Trained Physiatrist. An oncology physiatrist, also known as a cancer rehabilitation physician, plays a crucial role in the care of cancer patients. These specialists focus on helping patients maintain and restore their physical function and quality of life during and after cancer treatment. Here are some key aspects of their role:

Meet Your Presenter
Dr. Ngo has clinical and research interests including exercise for cancer patients and the rehabilitation needs of patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. She is a principal investigator of a multi-disciplinary, NIH-funded randomized trial of prehabilitation for patients with pancreatic cancer and is the director of the clinical prehabilitation program at MDACC. She speaks nationally on the topics related to cancer rehabilitation and is a strong advocate of the advancement of cancer rehabilitation through her work with the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Cancer Rehabilitation Physician Consortium and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.
