Join us for our CSPN Clinical Spotlight Session on the  clinical use of hypnosis in cancer supportive care.

Hypnosis has been increasingly recognized as a valuable complementary therapy in cancer supportive care. Research has shown that it can help address several psychological and physical challenges faced by cancer patients, including pain, anxiety, and nausea, thereby improving their overall quality of life.

  1. Pain Management: Hypnosis has been found effective in reducing pain perception and the need for pain medication in cancer patients. It helps patients achieve a state of deep relaxation, which can alter their perception of pain and enhance their ability to cope with it.
  2. Anxiety Reduction: Cancer diagnosis and treatment often lead to significant anxiety and stress. Hypnotherapy can help reduce these feelings by promoting relaxation and providing patients with coping strategies to manage their anxiety.
  3. Control of Nausea and Vomiting: Hypnosis has also been shown to be effective in controlling nausea and vomiting, which are common side effects of chemotherapy. By using guided imagery and relaxation techniques, hypnotherapy can help patients manage these symptoms more effectively.
  4. Enhancement of Quality of Life: Overall, hypnosis can contribute to an improved quality of life for cancer patients by addressing both physical symptoms and emotional well-being. It supports holistic healing processes and can be integrated into conventional cancer care to provide a more comprehensive treatment approach.
